Tree Top Trail
Let’s go up high! Lower Saxony’s first Tree Top Trail
The Harz has a brand new attraction: the newly opened Tree Top Trail. High above Bad Harzburg you have the opportunity to discover the nature of the Harz, from a completely new perspective on the first Tree Top Trail in Lower Saxony. This newly built addition to Bad Harzburg is suitable for young, old, families, seniors and people with disabilities.
At the foot of Castle Hill (Burgberg) and situated in Bad Harzburg spa park starts the approximately 1,000 meter long trail that leads you up to 26 meters high through the old treetops of the Kalten valley. Along the way you can discover more about the timber industry, nature and the environment of the Harz. Unique among the tree top trails in Germany is the geology station, which explains the rock strata of the Harz against a rock wall. In addition the path leads across a lake and provides views of the Harz National Park and ultimately gives an insight into the fascinating flora and fauna of the northern highlands of Germany. Of course we must not forget the Lynx wildcat, which have become the heraldic animal of Bad Harzburg. The history of the Harz is narrated by Kiepenfrau Wally; the basket woman, who explains the once arduous life of the women known as the Harzer Camels.
